Pros: This hotel has an excellent location, cheap prices, and brand-new facilities, making it a great value for a category 1 stay.

Cons: Though rooms are clean and stylish, some are on the smaller side.

Opened in August, the Hyatt Regency Houston West is a gleaming property that feels so luxurious, it's shocking to learn that it's only a category 1, which is the cheapest tier of hotels within Hyatt.

Located in the Energy Corridor, the hotel is close to CityCentre with expansive shopping and dining. The hotel also features a whopping 25,000 square feet of event space.

At 338 square feet, standard rooms are exceedingly comfortable and well-appointed, with crown molding and unique touches like Murphy beds. For business travelers keeping strange hours or sleeping in after long flights, rooms feature blackout curtains and coffee makers, as well as large 65" flat screen TVs and marble bathrooms. Larger deluxe rooms feature a sitting area and city views.

    Category: 4

Only five blocks from Pike Place Market, Motif Seattle provides a plum location complete with a rooftop lounge offering city views over the Emerald City.

Motif hotels pride themselves on convenience and this Seattle outpost is no exception. Rooms are wired with up-to-date technology including Amazon Alexa smart hubs, the concierge is just a text message away, and the property features Tesla and electric car charging stations.

Rooms are eclectic with a design-forward vibe featuring bold patterns, oversized artwork, and sleek decor. Each room also has a vestibule to store wet gear like umbrellas, boots, and anoraks: it's Seattle, after all.

    Hyatt Regency Wichita

Hyatt Regency Wichita rooms are decked out in soothing shades of blue and cream with great views. Tripadvisor

    Book Hyatt Regency Wichita

    Category: 1

    Location: Wichita, Kansas

Typical point redemption for standard room/club/suite/premium suite: 5,000/7,000/8,000/10,000

    Typical starting/peak prices: $139/$274

    Best for: Business travelers

On-site amenities: Starbucks coffee at Perks Market, multiple pools, restaurant, shuttle service, bar, river views

Pros: The hotel is incredibly upscale for the category 1 tier and boasts a prime riverfront location and high-end trimmings like marble bathrooms and plush robes.

Cons: There's a fee to park on-site, though there is a free garage across the street.

Overlooking the Arkansas River, Hyatt Regency Wichita is a stately 18-floor property with 303 clean, comfortable rooms that feel like a much higher category stay. It's especially convenient for business travelers since it's connected to the convention center, but it's the riverfront location that enchants couples, befitting its status as a popular wedding venue.

Rooms are decorated in soothing shades of blue and cream with spectacular views, large flat-screen TVs, and a small sitting area that doubles as a workstation. Beds are comfortable, while bathrooms are large with good lighting, deep tubs, and ample counter space.

Guests can eat at Harvest Kitchen|Bar, an upscale, farm-to-table spot that's a favorite among locals, and the restaurant offers special rates to those dining before a show at the Wichita Symphony, Music Theatre Wichita, or Broadway in Wichita.

There is also an indoor heated pool.

    Hyatt Place Waikiki Beach

Book an ocean view room for dreamy vistas of the Pacific. Tripadvisor

    Book Hyatt Place Waikiki Beach

    Category: 3

    Location: Waikiki, Oahu, Hawaii

Typical points redemption for standard room/club/suite/premium suite: 12,000/17,000/20,000/24,000

    Typical starting/peak prices: $147/$455

Best for: Business travelers, singles, families

On-site amenities: Daily complimentary breakfast, free Wi-Fi, spacious rooms, bar, concierge, deli, 24-hour fitness center, restaurant

Pros: For a clean, new hotel only three blocks from the beach that won't break the bank, the Hyatt Place Waikiki Beach is a steal. (And those beach views are to die for.)

Cons: Bustling Waikiki is not as remote as other areas of Oahu, which can feel disappointing to guests dreaming of a lush, remote Hawaiian island getaway.

Three blocks away from Oahu's sandy beaches in the heart of buzzing Waikiki's Diamond Head, Hyatt Place Waikiki Beach offers an enviable location. Hotels in this location are often much more expensive, making the Hyatt Place Waikiki Beach a steal should you decide to save points and pay cash.

Though rooms aren't huge — starting at 372 square feet — they're clean and airy, with spacious balconies and cozy Hyatt Grand beds, plus pull-out sofas, workstations, and bright bathrooms with ample counter space. Rooms also feature blackout shades, and thanks to the resort's beach proximity, many offer the type of beautiful ocean views that visitors to Hawaii crave.

The hotel offers a 24-7 market with Starbucks, beer, wine, and cocktails, plus grab-n-go treats. Breakfast is complimentary, too, and boasts a wide range of offerings.

The Elms Hotel and Spa, a Destination by Hyatt Hotel

This hotel boasts a destination-worthy spa. Hyatt

    Book Elms Hotel and Spa

    Category: 2

    Location: Excelsior Springs, Missouri

Typical point redemption for standard room/club/suite/premium suite: 8,000/12,000/13,000/16,000

    Typical starting/peak prices: $149/$319

    Best for: Couples, girls' getaways

On-site amenities: Full-service spa, indoor European lap pool, Grotto bath with eucalyptus-steam sauna, 24-hour fitness center, bicycles, dog-friendly

Pros: For a relaxing destination spa, the hotel is an unexpectedly delightful treat with facilities befitting a much more expensive property.

Cons: The hotel is reportedly haunted (a pro to some!), and the indoor pool recently experienced damage in a flash flood and is temporarily closed.

Located close to the hot springs that the town is named for, Excelsior Springs's Elms Hotel and Spa has been a destination getaway since 1888. Only half an hour outside Kansas City, the hotel is a lovely jumping-off point to explore the greater area. Both the Jesse James Birthplace Museum and Watkins Mill State Park are only about 5 miles away.

The star of the show is undoubtedly the 25,000 square foot spa, which offers a variety of services that are more suited to a category 8 hotel, let alone a category 2 one. This includes cupping, a Vichy shower, dedicated couples' treatment rooms, and a myriad of treatments like hot stone massages. Within the spa's Grotto are a eucalyptus-steam sauna and cold plunge, in addition to the standard dry sauna and hot tub fare. An indoor European lap pool wraps around a majestic stone column, while the outdoor pool features complimentary frozen treats, chilled peppermint washcloths, and Coola sunscreen in summer.

Rooms are elegant with a hint of Victorian-style decor plus Keurig coffeemakers, 42-inch flat screen TVs, and blackout curtain, while suites include jetted tubs, mini fridges, and (for some) club-level lounge access.

Elsewhere, there's a tavern, cafe, a steakhouse, as well as games such as shuffleboard and ping pong, movies on the lawn, a romantic gazebo, and live music on Friday and Saturday evenings.

The hotel was also featured on an episode of SyFy's "Ghost Hunters" due to its spooky past, with guests able to book regular ghost tours.

Hotel Revival, a JdV by Hyatt hotel

Design forward rooms feature vibrant colors and prints alongside contemporary furnishings. Tripadvisor

    Book Hotel Revival

    Category: 2

    Location: Baltimore, Maryland

Typical point redemption for standard room/club/suite/premium suite: 8,000/12,000/13,000/16,000

    Typical starting/peak prices: $149/$399

    Best for: Singles, couples

On-site amenities: Jonathan Adler bath amenities, curated art collection, rooftop cocktail lounge, speakeasy, cafe, community radio station, live music, karaoke rooms

Pros: Art lovers will flip for the Revival's thoughtful, exciting design, which is on display both in the common spaces — trompe l'oeil walls, neon signs, and cabinets stocked with books arranged by color greet guests in the lobby — and as well as the room's mixed-media collages, textured throws, and whimsical light fixtures.

Cons: At $38 per night, valet parking is steep, while self-parking is only available in a lot a couple of blocks away.

An exceedingly stylish art boutique hotel and TripAdvisor Traveler's Choice winner for 2021, Hotel Revival is set in the lively and historic Mount Vernon area of Baltimore.

With only 107 rooms, art is central to Hotel Revival's being. The hotel was formerly a private mansion owned by an avid art collector and now rooms and public spaces feature a thoughtful, eclectic mix of art curated by Paradigm Gallery + Studio. The hotel also embodies the spirit of its name by giving back to the community through programs that support the city. There's a dedicated radio station called Revival Radio, live local music in partnership with Sofar Sounds Baltimore, and monthly botanical-themed workshops and cocktail events.

Though standard rooms are on the smaller side at 269 square feet, they are an Instagrammer's dream with showpiece visuals like bold blue accent walls, two-tone four-poster beds, sumptuous tapestries, and ceramics by local artists. Bath amenities are from fashion-girl-fave Jonathan Adler.

Meanwhile, Hotel Revival features three popular dining concepts: gourmet coffee, pastries and breakfast at Dashery Café, Topside rooftop bar and garden, and craft cocktails at speakeasy B-Side.

    Hyatt Centric Charlotte SouthPark

This is a brand-new hotel with crisp rooms in an unbeatable location. Booking.com

    Book Hyatt Centric Charlotte SouthPark

    Category: 3

    Location: Charlotte, North Carolina

Typical points redemption for standard room/club/suite/premium suite: 12,000/17,000/20,000/24,000

    Typical starting/peak prices: $169/$219

Best for: Couples, business travelers, singles

On-site amenities: Fitness center, ballroom, rooftop bar and rooftop restaurant with outdoor terrace, free internet, free parking, business center, blackout curtains

Pros: This is a brand-new hotel in an unbeatable location in the heart of the SouthPark dining and shopping area.

Cons: If you're seeking an intimate boutique experience with a relaxing pool, this isn't the spot for you — the resort is huge and pool-free.

Just opened in June, the new Hyatt Centric SouthPark is located in Charlotte's tony SouthPark area, steps from hundreds of high-end shopping and dining options offering an unbeatable option for visitors who want to be in the heart of the action.

Unsurprisingly, considering the property is so new, the rooms are exceptionally clean with fresh and interesting designs. Think oversized, postmodern graphic prints above wooden-slat headboards punctuated by filament lighting, and large, open-concept bath areas set directly off the bedroom featuring soaking tubs.

Try the trendy rooftop spot, Mizu, for Asian cuisine tinged with Southern influences, or Iro, for casual breakfast, lunch, and dinner. There is also a cocktail lounge and a market.

    Hyatt Centric Downtown Portland

Rooms are contemporary and cool with industrial chic elements. Tripadvisor

    Book Hyatt Centric Downtown Portland

    Category: 4

    Location: Portland, Oregon

Typical points redemption for standard room/club/suite/premium suite: 15,000/21,000/24,000/30,000

    Typical starting/peak prices: $179/$499

Best for: Couples, singles, business travelers

On-site amenities: Free internet, fitness center, 24-hour market

Pros: The hotel's location in downtown Portland is in a very walkable area.

Cons: While the hotel has grab-n-go food options at the market, there's not a true restaurant (though numerous restaurants are nearby).

For guests wanting to explore the so-called City of Roses, the new Hyatt Centric Portland is well situated close to both Downtown Portland and the Pearl District. (It's walking distance to both Powell's Books and Blue Star Donut.)

As befits such a cool city like Portland, the Hyatt Centric is exceedingly hip with an abundance of art and visually striking decor throughout the lobby, public spaces, and eatery. Rooms enjoy a hip vibe too with old-school record players and eye-catching wall hangings that add character.

A 24-hour market showcases partnerships with local outfits like Portland Coffee Roasters, Multnomah Whiskey Library, Sugar Street Bakery, and Ruby Jewel, while there's a slew of popular restaurants within just a few blocks in the famed Pearl District.

Pros: The hotel offers a Tesla to shuttle guests within a mile, and provides a nice jumping-off point from which to explore trendy downtown LA.

Cons: While rooms are extremely stylish, many are on the smaller side.

Celebrating its 95th birthday this year, 1920s Spanish Colonial-style Hotel Figueroa — known affectionately as 'the Fig'— enjoys a position as one of the coolest stays in downtown Los Angeles, bursting with historic charm.

The Fig began life as a YWCA for solo female travelers, and that pioneering spirit continues today. Expect rebellious touches like the hotel's coffin-shaped pool (reportedly to bury the patriarchy) as well as its featured artist program highlighting female creators. The hotel's hand-crafted cocktails are a hit among guests and locals alike, as is its two-story villa and cocktail lounge La Casita.

Each room boasts its own unique style, mixing contemporary Spanish design and bold art choices with historic charm and eclectic details. Rooms feature Sferra luxury linens, bathtubs with rainfall showerheads, and local art, while larger rooms and suites offer glass-enclosed rain showers and extra seating areas.

Pros: This desert resort has an oasis feel and boasts a man-made sandy beach, as well as extensive water facilities.

Despite the desert locale, lush greenery abounds at Hyatt Regency Scottsdale Resort & Spa at Gainey Ranch. Fountains and a canopy of palm trees line walkways, while the hotel boasts a whopping 10 pools.

In fact, the hotel's water facilities are a star attraction, including a two-and-a-half acre water playground, three-story waterslide, and even a sand beach, making it popular among families and those looking for an urban oasis.

Spa Avania is also a draw with its 19 treatment rooms, including three couple's rooms and five rooms with private entrances overlooking a garden. There are also hot and cold plunge pools, a lotus pond, and a French-Celtic mineral pool.

Accommodations include rooms, suites, and casitas, and all have balconies and terraces, many with views of the McDowell Mountains or the 27-holes of championship golf. There's also a chipping and putting green, and 28' high rock-climbing wall.

Park Hyatt Aviara Resort, Golf Club & Spa

This hotel offers the ultimate splurge for a pampering stay. Park Hyatt Aviara

    Book Park Hyatt Aviara

    Category: 6

    Location: Carlsbad, California

Typical points redemption for standard room/club/suite/premium suite: 25,000/33,000/40,000/50,000

    Typical starting/peak prices: $495/$845

Best for: Families, couples, groups, weddings

On-site amenities: 2 outdoor pools, 2 water slides, splash pad, toddler beach, spa, golf club, tennis, game room, business services, pet-friendly, 24-7 fitness center, concierge, beach amenities

Pros: Families are all but guaranteed a heavenly experience thanks to Aviara's enviable pool complex and extensive grounds, plus rooms with two King-sized beds have ample extra space.

Cons: Although the resort has a beachy vibe, it's a few miles from the ocean. Though, beach towels and amenities are provided for guests who wish to make the drive.

In vacation-destination Carlsbad, the AAA Five-Diamond, Forbes Five-Star Park Hyatt Aviara welcomes well-heeled guests to a sprawling resort with sweeping views of Batiquitos Lagoon and the Pacific Ocean beyond. Considered one of the most family-friendly luxury properties in Southern California, the Park Hyatt Aviara recently underwent a resort-wide $50 million renovation, turning an already great property into a spectacular one.

Park Hyatt Aviara's pool facilities are particularly noteworthy and one of the reasons families adore the property. There are two two-story waterslides, a splash pad, a sandy beach play area for toddlers, an ocean view pool deck, tropical bar and cafe, and a zero-grade entry pool for littles. Over at the adult pool, meanwhile, there are cabanas and two large jacuzzis. At night, the area transforms into s'mores-central thanks to inviting fire pits.

Even standard rooms are enormous, starting from 540 square feet, and feature large balconies or terraces, soaking tubs, spa-like showers, and elegant marble bathrooms with plenty of counter space and great lighting. Every room features a King-sized bed, and many have two Kings, a rare (but welcome) treat for families used to squeezing into two Queens.

Beyond the pool, there's much to do. The resort is home to the Aviara golf community, with coastal California's only Arnold Palmer signature golf course, which hosts the LPGA Kia Classic. Elsewhere, there's a 15,000 square-foot spa with 20 treatment rooms, six tennis courts, giant lawn games like Connect Four, croquet, a Top Swing golf suite, billiards, and two miles of hiking trails.

Numerous restaurants include a sushi bar, an open kitchen featuring Baja cuisine, and poolside Water's Edge. Fans of Top Chef can dine at Ember & Rye steakhouse helmed by winner Richard Blais, overlooking the golf course with killer cocktails and its famed steak cake.

    Book Alila Napa Valley

    Category: 7

    Location: St. Helena, California

Typical point redemption for standard room/club/suite/premium suite: 30,000/39,000/48,000/60,000

    Typical starting/peak pricing: $749/$3,199

    Best for: Couples, girlfriend getaways

On-site amenities: Pool, Votary bath amenities, in-room Nespresso machine, Trek bikes, Peloton bikes and TRX machines in the fitness center, Tesla charging stations

Pros: The resort is well-located and walkable, just off main-street St. Helena, and has zero resort fee — a rarity in Napa.

Cons: There is a steep corkage fee for external wine brought to the restaurant, which you'll certainly want to do given the region.

Only open since March 2021, Alila Napa Valley was one of the most highly anticipated openings in California's most celebrated wine region. The 68-room boutique hotel abuts the vineyards of the Beringer Estate — literally just a bridge away — and provides oenophiles a perfect base from which to explore Napa and Sonoma. It's only a 10-minute walk from downtown St. Helena.

Each room features a large balcony or wrap-around terrace, as well as a fireplace; many even boast outdoor soaking tubs while others have private fire pits overlooking the vineyards. The hotel's signature restaurant Acacia House, located in a restored Georgian farmhouse, features an outdoor veranda while inside guests overlook chefs at work in the open kitchen preparing sustainable dishes with locally-grown ingredients.

Spa Alila commands a following for its Ayurvedic treatments. The signature ritual is a two-and-a-half-hour massage and facial combo. Finally, the sleek pool offers vineyard views, cabanas, and, at night, fire pits to congregate over a glass of local wine.

Typical point redemption for standard room/regency club/suite/premium suite: 30,000/39,000/48,000/60,000

    Typical starting/peak prices: $795/$1,595

Best for: Couples, families, business travelers

On-site amenities: Free internet, room service, 24-hour fitness center, indoor pool, concierge, business services, pet-friendly

Pros: Park Hyatt New York is truly a world-class hotel boasting a fantastic location close to Central Park, with easy walkability throughout Midtown Manhattan and beyond. The service is exquisite.

Cons: Those seeking pampering will be disappointed as the spa is temporarily closed.

Steps from Central Park on so-called Billionaires' Row, the five-star Park Hyatt New York has long been one of the city's loveliest stays. It's only a short walk to some of the Big Apple's most in-demand attractions — Carnegie Hall is across the street.

But guests returning to the hotel's serene cocoon can enjoy a feeling of being removed from the bustle with rooms and suites that are extremely large and comfortably appointed, with floor-to-ceiling windows and jaw-dropping city views. Fido is invited, too as pooches under 50 pounds can relax in their own in-room pet bed, and the hotel will arrange a dog bowl with water plus treats.

Other plush perks include an indoor pool with underwater speakers piping in music from Carnegie Hall, and on the same level, Spa Nalai offers gorgeous 25th-floor views and pampering treatments (although it's temporarily closed due to COVID). The hotel also can arrange curated experiences such as an elegant picnic in the park for what feels like a scene out of a movie.

On-site amenities: Horseback riding, paddle boarding, shooting, archery, kids programming, lawn games, 9-hole Frisbee golf course

Pros: The ranch is heaven for those yearning for wide-open spaces and a wide variety of fun programming and camp-like activities, which are all included in the price.

Cons: Surprisingly for a resort of this size, price, and caliber, there's no pool, though there is a pond for water activities. There's also no air conditioning, although fans are provided.

A luxury dude ranch and fly-fishing lodge in Colorado's Laramie River Valley, Rawah Ranch is a member of the Small Luxury Hotels of the World and part of the World of Hyatt and SLH loyalty alliance, offering an authentic outdoorsy experience without sacrificing any creature comforts. There is a three-night minimum stay.

Accommodations are rustic but elegant cabins with wooden beam ceilings, roaring fireplaces, and thick tartan flannel blankets draped over couches with cushions plumped just so. Guests receive welcome amenities like playing cards, and while rooms don't include TVs or Wi-Fi, they do feature porches, Keurig coffee makers, fireplaces, and wooden stoves.

Unsurprisingly, horseback riding is a favored activity, with other popular offerings include hiking, fly fishing, shooting, and archery, plus lawn games like volleyball, corn-hole, croquet, and bocce.

The ranch also features extensive children's programming for kids between ages 4-10 with rock painting, nature walks, panning for gold, and pond fishing. Both points and dollars go far here; despite its luxury price point, the ranch offers many inclusions that incur extra fees at other ranches, including horseback riding, shooting, archery, and the children's program. Special all-inclusive packages are also available, tailored to guests' interests such as bourbon or horses.

    FAQ: Hyatt hotels

How do I earn points with Hyatt?

There are a variety of ways to earn points with Hyatt. For World of Hyatt members, all stays earn five points for every qualifying dollar spent. Travelers earn World of Hyatt points through hotel stays that were booked direct and paid for in cash, as well as through purchases made at various partnerships (more on that later) or through a Hyatt-branded credit card. Points may then be exchanged for stays at a variety of Hyatt properties.

Hyatt also has a partnership with American Airlines where both AAdvantage and World of Hyatt Elite members can earn reciprocal benefits, points, and miles. Hyatt Elite-level members can earn one bonus point for every qualifying dollar spent on American flights, while American Elite members can earn one AAdvantage bonus mile per eligible dollar spent on certain Hyatt stays. For members with status in both programs, they'll earn bonus points.

World of Hyatt also has a unique collaboration with Bilt Rewards, enabling members to earn points on rent payments that may then be transferred at a 1:1 ratio.

How do I spend Hyatt points?

Members may redeem their World of Hyatt points for free nights at Hyatt properties, or use them to upgrade paid stays, which ranges from 3,000 points to 9,000 points per night for premium suites.

Hyatt points may also be redeemed through partnerships with Miraval Resorts, MGM Resorts, and Small Luxury Hotels of the World. Miraval Resorts can be booked redeeming from 45,000 points per night for a standard room with single occupancy, ranging to 125,000 points per night for a premium suite with double occupancy. How we selected the best Hyatt hotels

  • Hotels are highly ranked on TripAdvisor — a "very good" rating or above — with most designated as TripAdvisor Traveler's Choice award winners for 2021, as well as pulling in high rankings on other sites like Booking.com.
  • Hotels are located all over the country, to ensure geographic diversity.
  • We included a range of property types and every Hyatt hotel category (from 1 to 8) is represented.
  • We looked for hotels that are either in popular locations or which are new and best-in-class, even if in destinations slightly more off-the-beaten-path.
  • For lower category 1 and 2 hotels especially, which tend to merit that designation because of fewer amenities or more out-of-the-way locations, we sought value adds, such as brand-new properties, exceptional locations, or amenities like live music, art programs, high-quality design, or destination spas.
  • For those planning to use World of Hyatt points, redemption costs are between 5,000 to 80,000 Hyatt points per night, to ensure stays from budget-friendly to luxury. Similarly, for those not using points, starting prices range from $111 to $1,099 per night.
  • All hotels participate in Hyatt's Global Cleanliness and Care Commitment.
