Roy Lee Jones

As one of 12 children, Roy spent most of his childhood growing up on a farm in a small town in Arkansas. Roy enjoyed school, helping his father with farming, and he started singing in the church choir at the age of 8. Roy took on most of the farming duties when his father became disabled by a stroke when he was only 13 years old. The family moved to California in the early 60's . Roy joined the Army in 1966 and was stationed in Germany as a track vehicle mechanic in the 3rd armored div. After his time in the military Roy decided to travel Europe to broaden his mind and creative spirits. In 1971 He moved to Los Angeles to pursue a career in entertainment and kept studying his craft at LACC. Roy finally got his first big break when he won a role in the tony award-winning Broadway musical Dreamgirls. He spent over four years touring the world performing eight shows a week. When the show ended Roy became a family man. To provide for his family he took a job as a mechanic at the U.S postal service, and for years he worked the graveyard shift in order to continue pursuing his creative passions to have time to spend with his family. Over the years Roy has played in several roots and R &B bands with some of them getting to open for more prolific artists. Now at 69 Roy is going to take the spotlight.
