Our titular heroine is already fond of declaring, “this looks like a job for Supergirl,” but in the Nov. 16 installment of CBS‘ superhero drama, Kara Danvers (Melissa Benoist) might regret that proactive approach when her day job at CatCo starts to conflict with her duties as Supergirl.
“How Does She Do It?” sees Kara’s two identities stretched thin as Supergirl must protect National City from a series of bombings while Kara is tasked with babysitting Cat’s Grant’s (Calista Flockhart) son, Carter (Levi Miller).
Variety has an exclusive sneak peek from the upcoming installment, in which Kara and Winn (Jeremy Jordan) try to connect with Carter — soon discovering that they share a common interest.
The new episode will also see more of Lucy Lane (Jenna Dewan-Tatum), who arrived in National City last week to reconnect with her ex-boyfriend James Olsen (Mehcad Brooks). While her appearance throws a potential wrench in Kara and James’ burgeoning flirtation, executive producer Sarah Schechter previously told Variety that the show isn’t interested in pitting the two women against each other.
“One of the things Jenna really responded to – she has a daughter, so the idea of the diversity and positivity and complexity of the female characters on the show is really attractive to her,” Schechter said. “And the other thing she was happy to hear was something we all feel strongly about, which is that we’re not creating a love triangle where she’s mean to Kara. It’s too easy, that’s sort of a cheat — she wants to be friends with Kara too, and I think that’s part of what’s so interesting about this world, is how multidimensional all the characters are.”
